It is worth it to get higher merges as opposed to keeping several smaller merge levels when mining for items because higher merge levels yield: Higher level items, increased taps, and lesser wait times.For example: I suddenly opened up the Romantic Spot area when I finished the 11th merge in the Love Story chain, despite not having increased in player level.
